Hello Ranchlands School Community!
This was a very busy week at Ranchlands School. We began our week with a very important day, Orange Shirt Day. On this day, students and staff are encouraged to wear orange to raise awareness of the residential school experience and recognize the impact this system has had on Indigenous communities for over a century in Canada, and still does today. By wearing an orange shirt, we focus on our hope for a better future in which children are empowered to help each other.
On Tuesday, students engaged in storytelling with our guest storyteller, Mr. Jeff Stockton. Parents and families were invited to take part in this as well with a storytelling event on Thursday evening.
Lastly, on Wednesday, we had our first meeting for the Bridge Club afterschool program. Students took part in several activities that helped to build English language skills as well as had some fun with games and physical activity to wrap up the evening. There are still a few spots available. Please contact me at the school if you would like to register your ELL child. Registration forms are available in the office.
